England players loose out on IPL

The incredible amounts of money floating around IPL must be causing a lot of heart-burn for the English players. I mean, Dhoni is getting $1.5 Million for 6 weeks of work! OK, they can rationalize that by saying he’s an Indian star, but what about the freshly retired Gilchrist?
Gilchrist, who seemed in an odd hurry to retire from International cricket last month, hit paydirt by bagging a $700,000-a-year contract. To put that number in perspective, it’s almost 3 times the money Gilchrist made last year playing ODIs.
The England players, by the way, can’t play in the IPL because the timing is conflicting with their summer schedule. But looking at these numbers, I’ll bet a lot of the English folks are wondering if it is a better idea to retire. It certainly looks like a better career move!
