SRK keen on Philanthrophy to calm critics ?

SRKOwner of IPL’s Kolkata franchise Shah Rukh Khan has been recently involved in war of words with many people whether it was for promoting his movie in a cricket match or for the smoking issue with health minister Anbumani Ramadoss. The latest is with respect to cricket in a public function for the inauguration of football club in Pune, the actor has added one more person to his tussle list, it is none other than President of Indian Olympic Committee(IOC) Suresh Kalmadi.

In the function, SRK first talked about commercial viability of cricket. For this Kalmadi (already paranoid about IPL diverting sponsorship money from Olympic sports) commented

“I am very happy with Chak de India and the work you did for hockey. But I’m disappointed you went back to cricket. I want you to be made the ambassador of the Commonwealth Games and Olympic sports in India”

For this SRK responded sarcastically

“Please don’t feel bad that I am backing only one sport. Sports should be part of our second nature and I am a sportsperson by heart, my next step would be to take it (money earned in IPL) to hockey, football, kho kho, also kabaddi and gulli danda,”

Are we really going to have a premier league of gulli danda? sounds interesting. But India’s highest income tax payer was just trying to be politically correct. He has a lot of money, and if he really wanted to do something for other sports, he’d have already done it. He doesn’t have to wait for profits from the IPL.
