Oh Dear, Here comes the Rain!

Mar 15th, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: News

ThunderstormThe thunderstorm season kicked off in Bangalore today with a heavy downpour in the city. Bangalore has an unusually long rainy season, with the pre-monsoon showers starting in mid-march and going on all the way till May. And Oh, incidentally, that’s exactly the IPL season. But wait, it gets better. It usually rains late-afternoon, between, oh, i don’t know… 6 and 8 PM?

We’ve written about it before, the IPL doesn’t seem to be scheduled in the right season. What is going to happen if games get rained out? It is not very clear what rules will be applied and what strategies teams will use. It looks like the weather report is also going to be a part of team strategy now!

  1. I think Duckworth Lewis method won’t be applicable for Twenty20 format, may be they will decide the winner by conducting bowlout as they do after the match is tied.

  2. That’s the problem right - If matches get decided by bowl-outs instead of cricket, then fans are going to be disappointed!

  3. Well u never know these Bowl Outs could lead to a new Era — Bowl Out Era —Probably 2030 June 16 th

    Test Match –> ODI –> T20 –> Bowl Out.

That would be the tend then — who will watch 3 hrs — rather watch bowl outs

  4. Hehe… Yeah, I’ll bet the league for bowlouts will be a big hit!

  5. Good thing is it doesn’t rain everyday, unlike during monsoon. Usually, it is couple of days thunderstorms followed by a week of dry spell. Let’s hope the seven match days are dry. But Mallya better be ready with some super soppers, just in case.
