Team Profile: Bangalore Royal Challengers
Mar 17th, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: Teams, Top Stories
The Vijay Mallya owned Bangalore Royal Challengers seem to have a good team, at least on paper. The Rahul Dravid led team looks to have a very well rounded side with several the 23 of the players in the team being batsman/part time bowlers.
The batting line up has several tried-and-tested folks - Rahul Dravid, Jaques Kallis, Mark Boucher and Chandrapaul. These folks have not, however, demonstrated their skills with the bat in the Twenty20 format, but there are some big hitters in that list that can come suddenly good for the team in times of crisis.
The major trump card will be Misbah-ul-Haq, he was sort of a revelation in inaugural Twenty20 world cup and had almost won the championship of his team. He bats according to the situation and can clear the fence with ease. An especially invaluable skill in Twenty20! The first pick for U-22 slot will be Virat Kohli, captain of U-19 champion team. Filling other three slots in U-22 will be tough decision.
The bowling line up looks equally impressive, with Praveen Kumar, Anil Kumble, Dale Steyn, Nathan Bracken and of course, Zaheer Khan. How much of an impact these bowlers can have in the short Twenty20 format is not clear, since the pitches are all likely to be prepared just as flat as they always have been - to favor high-scoring games. In case the pitch seems to favor spinners in second innings then the Bangladeshi spinner Abdur Razzaq will be obvious choice.
Interestingly, the team has a choice of 3 wicket keepers, Mark Boucher, Devraj Patil (Karnataka Ranji player) and Shreevats Goswami (U-19 player). But Twenty20 is a game of all rounders, and there probably isn’t a place for specialist wicketkeepers, so it’s very likely that only one of the 3 will play at a time, and that too will be determined by their batting strength.

The star is Misbah…(he got sold for peanuts…SRK you listenin’)
I dunno if he would play for his club though.
Anyways, I guess…
They are the second best team on paper after the Knightriders.
Although the team may be the second best on paper what matters is that this team has managed to strike a perfect balance between local players and foreign players since there are only 4 foreign players allowed in the playing XI…nd that is what is going to be a major problem for Kolkata Knight Riders…i live in mumbai bt im gonna scream fr Bangalore!!
cheers
shivanand

Bangalore Royal Challengers are best in test matches and not suitable for Twenty20 format. We feel embarassing as Bangaloreans with losing team. May be Team Owner Vijay Malya sir will choose good team for next year and I bet BRC will not qualify for semis……………………. Only god has to do miracle
