Where are the IPL Tickets?

Mar 19th, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: News

Ticket UPDATE: The IPL Tickets have gone on sale at several places. Check out the details!

With less than a month to go to the IPL, the news about the IPL tickets has been short coming. Only the Kolkata’s team has made some small talk about “Tickets being available on SMS”, but there has been no further updates. Why isn’t more information about the tickets available?

Some people say that it is too early, but that’s just rubbish. You can book railway tickets 2 months in advance, so why not IPL tickets? Besides, they have to sell LOTS of tickets. For example, Bangalore’s Chinnaswami Stadium can seat 55,000 people, and there’s 7 matches there. That means they have to sell 3,85,000 tickets! And that’s just in Bangalore!

I already know what’s going to happen. They are going to open up bookings on ticketpro.in at the very last minute, and then everyone is going to log on to the site to get the tickets, and the whole site is going to crash, and then everyone is going to be frustrated, and then they are going to sell the tickets at Coffee Day, and then Coffee Day is going to have a riot. Besides, how much are they going to cost? I mean, come on, I have to plan my next month’s budget!!!

Anyway, at least everything is going very well on the TV front. Sony is commanding world-cup rates for the IPL tournaments! This is unbelievable, considering that there are 59 matches, Sony is going to make a killing.

  1. Aditya,

Exactly. Even I can’t wait for Ticketpro to start selling the damn tickets. As for pricing, Kolkatta gave an indication. I think the rates there are Rs. 4200, Rs. 2100 and Rs. 1200 for the season ticket (7 matches). That’s pretty reasonable - Rs. 600 per match for the best seats. I hope Bangalore rates are similar. And hopefully, kids below 12 will be free.

Yes, Sony is going to make a killing. They are already looking to make a decent profit in the first year and best part is what they have to pay bcci remains constant for first 5 years. Imagine their profits by the 5th year!

  2. I know! Sony really hit the jackpot with this one. The amount of money it needs to spend remains constant, but its revenues keep increasing. Lucky!

  3. Ticketpro.in has an ad for IPL on their homepage now, but the ‘buy online’ link only takes you to a registration form. But that’s better than nothing. Hopefully, they will start selling in a few days.

  4. Yeah, I don’t know what the hell they’re doing. They have a blinking “Buy Tickets Now” link, that… doesn’t let you buy tickets.

    Stupid stupid.

  5. all I know is that the ‘Mumbai Indians’ (dumb name!) have neither done any publicity yet to write home about. But rest assured that the ticket prices will be outrageous….ambani bhai is the owner after all, and this is mumbai…..expect the rates to go thru the roof! Im sticking to sony…..is mandira gonna be on this time?

  6. TicketPro isn’t the only one seliing tickets….

  7. The DY Patil Stadium in Nerul(mumbai base) will host 4-5 events..

But even though it’s a walking distance from my house…I have better things to spend my money on…Heck, that would finance my 6 months of film theatre expenses(2 per month)…

Still, I know of certain people who have paid 15000 to get a ticket in black for a India-England match in wankhede.

So the event will be sold out any which way.

  8. Hey Sameer, that’s also the same case here in Bangalore. Lots of tickets in Black - Even the official ones were priced at upto Rs. 5000 last time!

  9. holy crap nerul! The matches are gonna be held there….hmm well that means that cricket fans from town and suburbs have to take an hour and half long train journey via harbour line from CST to watch a match! Woohoo!

  10. You must see the stadium, brother…

It’s as good as anything else in the whole friggin’ cricketin’ world. And anyways, Cricket fans travel all the way to west indies…

  11. You must see the stadium, brother…

It’s as good as anything else in the whole cricketin’ world. And anyways, Cricket fans travel all the way to West Indies.

  12. Ticket Info, then who will be selling the Mumbai tickets?

  13. who do u think would be the winner ?

  14. The real winner is BCCI man! But anyway, I think the Delhi DareDevils will win the tournament!

  15. Well. Mumbai Indians is a decent name, but their publicity is lame…Reliance is doing a shabby job on that. The website, http://www.themumbaiindians.com sucks big time! and that really is an understatement.

About DY Patil, Nerul…the stadium looks good…not sure if its ready with all the infrastructure, practice pitches etc.

Tickets for the Indians go on sale at http://www.kyazoonga.com. All i can say is “Whatever!”
