BCCI to make IPL captains take a “pledge”
Mar 27th, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: News
The Indian board, in its infinite wisdom, has decided that its going to make the captains of all the IPL teams make a pledge (or oath, if you prefer) that they will play the league “in the spirit of the game of cricket“.
Excuse me? By the way, did you know that there is actually a “spirit of cricket” definition in the cricket rulebook? It was apparently added in 2000. Oh, its good that they added it because cricket has become more civilized since then.
Puh-lease.
Does the BCCI really think that this stunt is going to help? The captains are going to be like “Oops… I swore to the spirit of the game, I should not appeal for silly LBWs”? That’s not happening. I’m willing to bet good money that the IPL is going to be the ughliest/most controversial season of cricket we’ve had in recent times!

1) ‘Season of Cricket’ what are you talking about?
2) ughliest/most controversial, if you are that unenthusiastic about it, why create an ‘unofficial’ blog..
I like what you said about the pledge though, it is unlikely to make an impact, but I dont expect great animosity between teams, since the players won’t have enough time that’d foster their loyalty.
I meant ughliest/most controversial in the best possible way - It’ll be entertaining and fun and a blast to watch!
