SRK getting deeper into trouble over Eden Gardens
Apr 4th, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: News
With less than 2 weeks to go for the kick off of the IPL, things are not looking good at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, home of the KnightRiders. First, there was this problem over the issue of the tickets, and now comes the latest news that the stadium itself has not been confirmed for the matches.
I had no idea that the Eden Gardens, one of the landmark stadiums in India, is actually owned by the Army. And now, the Army wants SRK to pay up Rs 6 Crores to be able to host matches at Kolkata. Not only that, but the Kolkata Municipal Corporation also wants a cut of the money, for reasons that are not clear to me. What does the Municipal corporation have to do with the stadium.
Anyway, I hope they can work through this quickly. I’d hate to see the tournament postponed because of some silly thing like this.
