Unofficial IPL Dream Team

The Dream TeamStarting April 18th, Cricket ka karmayudh will involve top players from the cricketing world. The owners of IPL franchise have put all their efforts and money to hire best players. I’ll bet some teams wanted to hire all the top players, but they’ve been restricted by the $5 million per team spending limit. If this limit was not there, hypothetically, lets see what a “dream team” would look like. Since we’re all super rich and have no spending limit, lets see what a squad of 15 players consisting of 6 batsmen, 5 bowlers, 2 all rounders, 2 wicket keepers will look like.

The final eleven will have 4 batsmen, 4 bowlers, 2 all-rounders and 1 wicketkeeper. The selection is made on basis of performance of players in Twenty20 world cup and recent CB series in Australia. All the players select themselves. The first pick is obviously Andrew Symonds for his all-round abilities. In batting department Misbah-ul-Haq is my first choice as he has proven that he can bring team to a winning position from hopeless situation. Chris Gayle and Virender Sehwag get preference because their slow bowling skills can be useful to calm down a heating batting attack.

In bowling department preference is given to spin bowlers considering the Indian conditions. We’ve ignored Anil Kumble here because he hasn’t played a Twenty20 match yet, and lets face it - not very good with the big hits. MS Dhoni will be leading the team and also keeping the stumps. His inclusion blocks the way for Adam Gilchrist, sorry Gilly.

Considering the overseas player limit my final eleven will be Mishbah-ul-Haq, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Andrew Symonds, Shahid Afridi, MS Dhoni, Daniel Vettori, Harbhajan Singh, Ishant Sharma, Irfan Pathan. To keep things simple and interesting I have ignored U-22 rule for the selection. Heck, the BCCI should revoke it too!

  1. are u thinking of leaving Brendon Mccullum out……he is just naturally made for 20 20 !

  2. well, we cannot judge a player by a single innings on a flat pitch against a abysmal bowling line up. Let’s see how he performs against Murali, McGrath and Warne.

  3. Actually, I’ve become a fan of McCullum now :) I must admit, I didn’t think he’d be able to do much in T20, but he’s one of the guys to watch this season!

  4. i want make my dream team
