IPL’s $50 million website not working

The BCCI has sold the rights to the official IPL website to some american company for $50 million. And, ostensibly, in an attempt to please their new website owners, the BCCI has issued draconian restrictions on the ability of websites to cover the IPL league matches.
And so, after all the hulla-gulla, the website is still not working. The IPL’s official website still shows the 3-month old news “IPL Auction to be held on 20th Feb!”. How nice. And its less than 2 weeks away. Well done, BCCI! And oh, no news about the ipl tickets either. Only the Kolkata tickets went on sale, but from the looks of it, the response has been very damp.

That old website was managed by IMG. But it has not been updated precisely because bcci chose to go with this US company for the IPL portal. The new one was supposed to be launched yesterday, but looks like it has been delayed. Should be up in a few days.

And while the website is delayed, these folks are loosing precious traffic

For starters, there’s STILL no news of the IPL tickets - where to buy them, how much they cost - for most of the venues. Then there’s this impending boycott of the coverage of the IPL by the newspapers and online media of India. Some of the international players themselves are not entirely sure they’ll be allowed to play in the IPL (think Shoaib, several Aussies and Englishmen). And all this is besides the BCCI being the most hated cricket board in the world for trampling over the other cricket boards. And Oh, their $50 million website is still not online. [...]
