IPL matches in multiplexes too

Apr 12th, 2008 | By sandeeps | Category: News

Live CricketNot wanting to see their precious movie business hurt by the IPL extravaganzas, the latest to join this bandwagon are mutliplex chains across India.

According to a ET report - PVR and Adlabs are having talks with SONY (official broadcasters of IPL) to screen IPL matches in theaters. Not a bad idea at all, since people will definitely prefer live action over forms of Entertainment. Harsha Bhogle had recently said in a interview live action is exciting because there is no written script for it.

This is not new for the multiplexes. Several of them had screened the T20 world cup, and because of the 3-hour format of the Twenty20 games, they make for a great substitute for the evening 6 PM shows at many of the movie theaters. This is, of course, assuming that the BCCI has no problem with it. WIth its stone age thinking, it may as well come out and say its illegal to broadcast the matches in public!

  1. If this comes true then it would be the first time Rajeev Masand (IBN live) would not be giving review :)
