Shoaib Akhtar still not sure of playing in IPL

With just a few days to go before the IPL kicks off with the Kolkata KnightRider’s inaugural match, the Kolkata team is still not sure of playing on of its star players - Shoaib Akhtar. Akhtar, if you remember, was slapped with a fine and ban on playing international cricket for Pakistan, and the BCCI buckled under pressure and asked Akhtar to get a NOC from the Pakistan Cricket Board, even though the PCB had clearly said it doesn’t mind Akhtar playing in the IPL.
Akhtar had appealed this but it has gone nowhere. The Senate Standing Committee on Sports and Culture on Monday came out in support of Akhtar, however, accusing the board of victimising Akhtar.
These are some brownie points for him, but it doesn’t change anything. His appeal is going to be heard on April 26th, which means he’s already going to miss the Opening Match!
