Boycotting Times : Now its the turn of TV Channels

As the D-Day for Cricket ka Karmayudh is approaching nearer, it seems that all is not well with IPL. After almost sorting out the issues with print media regarding the controversial clauses, now the ball is back in BCCI’s court. Well, with the News Broadcasters Association (NBA) threatening to blackout IPL coverage with barely 2 days to go for the first match, the IPL controversial saga continues. NBA includes some of the top national news channels like TV Today, NDTV, Times Global broadcasting company, TV18, Global Broadcast News Limited and Zee News. It seems that the exhorbitant rates charged for the IPL clips shown on news and also the condition that these channels can not archive such clips received, have irked the news broadcasters to take this extreme stand on the issue. But thats not all, as NBA press release states that for their query for clarifications on the above issues from BCCI, it received a reply from Sony who holds the TV rights. Now, how is that? Salt on wound! It seems BCCI has gone wayward in its approach to the people who matter most in sporting events, media people. These are the people who create hype of sorts and bring in more eyeballs to glue into the game. Better to clean up the mess once for all.
