Bajji Slaps Sreeshant!

Apr 26th, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: News

It seems there was an off-camera incident yesterday, after the Mumbai Indians lost yet another match to the Kings XI. It seems after the match, Sreesanth walked up to Bajji and said “Hard Luck”. This apparently pushed Bajji over the edge and he slapped Sreesanth.

Bajji apparently apologized later, but Sreesanth was caught crying on the camera. Details of this came out during the post match press conference, but Bajji refused to talk anything about it. The BCCI, however, taking note of this incident has sent a notice to Bajji. I’m not really sure what the notice means, but we’ll see.

Wow! Talk about stress! I’m sure Bajji was feeling very stressed out and the pressure must be getting to him to show at least one win!

  1. I am really waiting to see Harbhajan’s mother on national TV again ! “betaa maa baap ka naam roshan kar raha hai”.

  2. Haha! I never thought of it that way. That’s funny :)

  3. all the support(especially from Team) he got for racism allegations in Australia has been washed away in a Jiffy !!

  4. Ag man Please! Sreesanth jus likes to push people over the edge, he is growing up too fast and Bhajji did the right thing by bringing him back to senses, its goo to be a great cricketer at such a young age but please man, U cant fly in the air for long, u have to kiss the ground sumtym or the other and Great Bajji u knw u did the right thing boyki

  5. What bajji Did that was not sportsmen spirit but at last God has given the punishment.

  6. His Ban is well deserved. Sree hasnt done anything wrong in the field , if his sledging is a problem to you. Taking the true spirits of the game , sledging is not an offense, its only a mere reaction based on the thrill of getting a wicket. Indians havent seen this sort of a character before and think its unusual and unnecessary. thats were u gotta grow up bigtime!! He does whatever he wants on the field, but of the field he is a perfect gentleman. and Bhajji has clearly stated that sree didnt provoke him either , it was all out of his anger and he is sorry for it. Quit taking your anger on Sree for the immature act of Bhajji. its sad that you most people are supporting a man who actually needs some serious counseling .

  7. I think the IPL is doing great and it’s getting all the attention it rightfully deserves. The players are performing as expected and the matches are extremely exciting too. The country’s being brought into a whole new mode of integrity with Bikaneri folks taking to the streets for Sreesanth against Bhajji. We had apprehended a case of mixed loyalties, but I think the League has fit in quite snug.

Bhajji slaps Sreesanth. Sreesanth cries on TV.

All of this after a T20 match, which isn’t even an international event. Which isn’t even first class. It’s exhibition cricket. It doesn’t count.

No, I’m not talking about how the ‘boys’ shouldn’t have shown such attitude and Bhajji should have acted responsibly or Sree should not have cried on TV. I’m just surprised how The Times of India’s suggestive article by Jug Suraiya on 23 February in “IPL matches should be ’scripted’ like WWF events” was actually bought as a profitable idea by the Mr Lalit Modi. I think you deserve a cut in the profits, Mr. Suraiya; or could it be possible that the BCCI had always planned for such lights, cameras, action, and consequent dramas, action, thrillers and shock surprises (lets hope some romance is on its way!)

The BCCI has sold TV rights for a minimum of 5 years at deals being cut at over a billion US dollars. How are they so sure that we wouldn’t see through it for 5 years or we’ll keep seeing through it but still applause for 5 years? It’s WWE (with the blondes!)And we’re paying to watch it. The cricketers are a very popular species in our sub-continent and we love our movies too. Now we have movie stars and cricketers acting out on live stage every night. Mr. Khan exults and Ms. Zinta sulks!

We’ve brought players out of their domestic circuit. If IPL does stick for 5 years then the next cricket world cup teams will be picked on the basis of a player’s performance in T20 exhibition matches, since there’ll be no domestic circuit action.

We’ve made them an offer they couldn’t refuse. We’re the Cricket Mafia of the World. We told Mr. Speed that at the end of this ‘urgent’ meeting (in Bangalore) either your signature or your brains will be on that piece of paper! Mr. Speed has left ICC three months before a happy farewell and we went on to celebrate the start of a new dawn of cricket- under flood lights and for three hours only. However, Mr. Morgan, the President-elect of ICC, continues to say ‘Contrary to that as has been gossiped on a widespread basis, it is nothing to do with the IPL’.

Let’s not let the BCCI & Co. direct and script our love for the game. Our passion shouldn’t be for sale. Let’s not get ourselves to say Chalta Hai if cricket heroes are playing for money and it’s not the hand-eye coordination bowling the next ball, but the mouth-to-earpiece technology. They’re playing the same game but without the same rules. They’ll do everything that Mr. Cronje was crucified for (inclusive of the earpiece) but this time we’ll continue to praise the gallant effort of putting together such a magnificent show.

We’ve been bought and we’ve been sold. I think it’s being done brilliantly, but blatantly!

  8. Harbhajan “Nothing Happened” Singh :)
