Bajji Slaps Sreeshant!

Apr 26th, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: News

It seems there was an off-camera incident yesterday, after the Mumbai Indians lost yet another match to the Kings XI. It seems after the match, Sreesanth walked up to Bajji and said “Hard Luck”. This apparently pushed Bajji over the edge and he slapped Sreesanth.
Bajji apparently apologized later, but Sreesanth was caught crying on the [...]

The Rise of Specialization

Apr 26th, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: Analysis and Speculation, Top Stories

When the IPL Twenty20 tournament kicked off, a lot of the cricketing experts and pundits (including us :P) predicted that the Twenty20 format would increase the demand for all-rounders. The thinking was that every player in the playing 11 will be valuable in the quick-fire style of play, and the more a player can do, [...]

Deccan Chargers Slipping Into Trouble

Apr 25th, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: Top Stories

The talented Hyderabad Deccan chargers had to face their third defeat in a row when Shane Warne smashed the last-but-one ball for a SIX. The entire team must be scratching their heads figuring out how they lost even after Symonds scored the fastest hundred so far in the IPL tournament.
I’ve been watching the matches, and [...]

Maharashtra Govt Sees Red Over Cheerleaders

Apr 25th, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: News

The self-proclaimed moral police of Monday attacked the cheerleader concept that has been imported to India. Minister of State for Home Siddharam Mhetre apparently finds the cheerleaders “absolutely obscene”, and finds it especially disgusting since we are in a country where “Womanhood is worshiped”. He’s talking about a ban on cheerleaders, and will certainly not [...]

Warne Hits Penultimate Ball SIX To Win For The Royals

Apr 24th, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: News

Oh dear, that match was just too tense for me. The Rajsthan Royals were locked in a intense match against the Deccan Chargers, and it went down right to the finish. Needing 215 to win, the Rajasthan Royals did well to chase, but needed 17 runs of the last over to win. And as Warne [...]

New Strategies Start Emerging!

Apr 24th, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: Top Stories

It’ been almost 2 weeks since the IPL kicked off, but the intense competition has already seen the rise of a few unique strategies in this format of the game. Here’s some of new strategies and tactics I’ve noticed the players using:

1) The Wicketkeeper’s job has become more difficult
The wicketkeeper is facing all kinds of [...]

Baseball Fans Looking To IPL!

Apr 23rd, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: News

The way the IPL has turned the sleepy 7-hours-long cricket game into an action-packed-circus-like 3 hour show has caught the attention of a lot of folks around the world. Baseball, the quintessentially american sport also suffers from some of the problems of the ODI format - Long games and only a few sixes (home runs).
Baseball [...]

Where Have All The Indians Gone?

Apr 23rd, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: Top Stories

I noticed something very interesting the other day. Here’s the list of man-of-the-match awards that have been given for the 7 matches so far.
Sehwag, SR Watson, M Boucher, D Hussey, Mahroof, M Hussey, McCullum
Only one Indian name in the list? Despite the max-of-4-international-player limit, the foreign players seem to be cornering all the limelight? Technically, [...]

Sehwag Murders Deccan Chargers

Apr 23rd, 2008 | By Aditya | Category: News

The Deccan Chargers had yet another disappointing night when Sehwag smashed his way to a 41-ball 94 to take the Daredevils to a comfortable victory with a full 7 overs to spare. Sehwag played his typical bowl-to-me-if-you-dare innings, murdering Andrew Symonds with an over in which he scored 4,6,4,6,4,6.
I can’t help but notice how the [...]

Milking the Cash Cow!

Apr 22nd, 2008 | By Raveesh | Category: News

Amidst boycotts and controversies, SET Max management are smiling all the way to the bank. SET Max has won the jackpot of broadcasting the IPL matches, much bigger than the cash pot it found during the world t20 days in South Africa. With IPL’s popularity growing day by day Sony has raised its ad rates [...]
