RCB avoid the basement

In a battle to avoid the basement, Royal Challengers defeated Deccan chargers by 5 wickets. Chasing 166 to win RCB started cautiously scoring at 6-7 runs per over. In later stages RCB kept the target at a striking distance with handy contribution from Misbah-ul-Haq, Rahul Dravid. In the end of Cameron White and Akhil B finished the match in style. The surprise of the evening was Akhil B. He scored 27 runs of 7 balls and scored winning run with a six.
Earlier Deccan chargers were restricted to a total of 165 inspite of 100+ opening stand from Gilchrist and Gibbs. In a magical spell Vinay Kumar of RCB took vital scalps of Gilchrist, Rohith Sharma and Venugopal Rao - all successful batsmen of Deccan in the league. From there the Chargers never recovered and in fact in last 2 overs they managed to score only 2 runs !
With this constellation win, RCB retained their 7th position in points table and ensured that they won’t finishing the league staying at the bottom.
